Stay in the sun when the sunshine is gone, and you will find that the sunshine lives within you.

SOS Packs & Ray of Sunshine Boxes

Our SOS Packs are available to anyone living in Gloucestershire that has lost a loved one to suicide. They  include a Help is at Hand booklet, along with various leaflets and information detailing where they can receive other professional support.

We also offer 'Ray of Sunshine' boxes which are a really nice alternative to flowers, each one is different and tailored to the person they are for. The aim is to offer a glimmer of hope to those walking this grief journey.

Please click HERE for more info and to fill out our REFERRAL FORM stating which item you would like to request and giving us a little information about those bereaved, their address, ages and also some information about their loved one. This will help us to personalise their sunshine box  to make it a special gift that they can keep and use as they continue through their grief.

Weekly Storms Walks

We host a weekly walking group which has been named 'Storms' Walking Group. We aim to complete short child and dog friendly walks usually about an hour long. We get outside in nature, with great company in a bid to walk through 'life's storms' together. Each week is a different location. This is open to anyone, not just those bereaved by suicide. Children are welcome to join us accompanied by an adult.

Grief Recovery Courses

We offer the Grief Recovery Method as a Peer Support Course. It is available for people bereaved by suicide who are over the age of 18.

We offer places on this course FREE OF CHARGE to any individual who is currently living in Gloucestershire and has been bereaved by suicide.

The course is delivered over 8 weeks within a group setting. You will be expected to attend once per week for two hours and will work closely together building positive relationships. We really believe that ‘peer’ support is hugely beneficial to feel supported through your grief.  There are also weekly tasks to complete at home in your own time.

We are also able to deliver our 'Helping Children Deal with Loss Course as part of the Grief Recovery Method directly to professional settings where adults are supporting children bereaved. This is a charged course.

Bereavement Events

After losing a loved one to suicide, it may feel like you will never be able to smile again. We have learnt that getting outdoors and learning to appreciate the beauty around us has helped.  By focusing on each moment in time and grounding ourselves we manage to put one foot in front of the other rather than allowing ourselves to become overwhelmed with the future. We believe this is a really important part of learning to live again.

We host various events throughout the year which are for families bereaved by sucide. Some of our recent events have included:

  • planting a memorial garden,

  • a butterfly release,

  • a picnic,

  • a ceilidh.

Please click here for details of upcoming bereavement events.

Children are welcome to attend alongside a responsible adult.

Online Support and Counselling

Sadly we have exhuasted our funding for provision of counselling. We will be trying to secure more funding as we are aware this is an essential part of our service.
